Askestan (اسكستان) village and its environs

At first glance, the not very gentle deforested and dry landscape around the village of Askestan (1700-1800 m a.s.l, Shahrud district, Khalkhal county, Ardabil province, Iran) is in fact a small paradise for longhorn beetles tied to herbs. The surrounding pastures and steppe localities with rich herbaceous vegetation are during spring a very ideal locality for species of the genera Cortodera, Phytoecia and Agapanthia.
From numerous species, which were found here, is necessary to remind following Cerambycid taxa:

- Cortodera syriaca Pic, 1901 on Ferula sp.
