Phytoecia bodemeyeri, a rare species endemic to Iran, has been described from Lorestan province (Iran) by Edmund Reitter in 1913 [▽]. This little-known taxon is included in the subgenus Phytoecia, but its male genitalia are very similar to the Neomusaria subgenus, and also the host plant (undetermined Lamiaceae plant) corresponds more to this subgenus. In any case, the position of the species in the structure of the genus Phytoecia is far from solved.
Body length: 10 - 12 mm Life cycle: 1 year Adults in: May - June Host plant: undetermined Lamiaceae plant Distribution: an endemic species to Iran
Depicted beetles were collected on undetermined Lamiaceae plant in Askestan (اسكستان) village environs (1750 m a.s.l, Shahrud district, Khalkhal county, Ardabil province, Iran) on May 27-29, 2019.Collected by D.Navrátil
