This beautiful Mallosia species, close to Mallosia jakowlewi, was recently described by Gianfranco Sama and Kálmán Székely from Zagros Mountains in Western Iran [✧].
Body length: ♂♂ 24 - 35 mm / ♀♀ 35 - 43 mm Life cycle: 1 year Adults in: May - June Host plant: Ferula sp. Distribution: a species endemic to Iran
The depicted mounted beetles were collected on the host plant (Ferula sp.) 3 km NW of Ārdaḵān (East Iran, Fārs province) on May 1st, 2016. The living beetles were photographed in the same site on May 14, 2019.Collected by our friend Lech Kruszelnicki and P.Jelínek

Mallosia (Eumallosia Danilevsky, 1990) = M. (Anatolomallosia Özdikmen & Aytar, 2012 type species Mallosia nonnigra Özdikmen & Aytar, 2012), syn. nov. = M. (Submallosia Özdikmen & Aytar, 2012 type species Mallosia jakovlevi Semenov, 1895), syn. nov. The type species of both subgenera are typical representatives of Mallosia (Eumallosia Danilevsky, 1990).
