Mallosia jakowlewi, a rare species endemic to Iran, has been described as Phytoecia (Mallosia) Jakowlewi from "Persia septentr.: fl. Lar ad illapsum fluvii Sefidab, ad pedem montis Demavend" by Andrej P. Semenov Tian-Shanskij in 1895 [▽]. Like most species of the genus, Mallosia jakowlewi is ecologically associated with big Apiaceae plants close to Ferula and Prangos in the roots of which its larvae develop.

(Submallosia Özdikmen & Aytar, 2012 type species Mallosia jakovlevi Semenov, 1895), syn. nov. The type species of both subgenera are typical representatives of Mallosia (Eumallosia Danilevsky, 1990).
