Turanium hladili, a very rare Turanium species close to T. scabrum (Kraatz, 1882) occuring in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, has been described from Aktash environs (Uzbekistan) by Jan Kratochvíl in 1985 [▽]. It is mentioned in the literature as an endemic of Uzbekistan, but our Czech friends reared this interesting taxon from larvae found in dead roses (Rosa sp.) in Osh (Ош) environs (Kyrgyzstan).
Body length: 7 – 11 mm Life cycle: 2 years Adults in: May - June Host plant: polyphagous in deciduous trees (Populus, Rosa) Distribution: Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan
The depicted beetles were reared (hatched in April 2019) from larvae found in Populus sp. collected in Bukhara (Бухоро) outskirts (N39°47′07″ E64°27′03″; 225 m a.s.l., Bukhara region, Uzbekistan) in autumn 2018.Collected by our friend Petr Papoušek
