Trichoferus georgioui, an interesting endemic species to Cyprus, has been described from Paphos environs (Cyprus) Gianfranco Sama and Christodoulos Makris in 2001 [❖]. Like related species of the genus, T. georgioui is a nocturnal beetle, which can be attracted to light or can also be caught using vine traps. It is probably a polyphagous species with development in dying/dead wood of deciduous trees (development in Ceratonia siliqua is proven [✧]), relatively widely distributed at lower and medium altitudes in the southern and southwestern foothills of the Troodos Mountains.
Body length: 12 - 16 mm Life cycle: 2 years Adults in: June - August Host plant: probably polyphagous in deciduous trees (e.g. Ceratonia siliqua ) Distribution: an endemic species to Cyprus
The depicted mounted males were collected in: ♂P (paratype) - wine trap on Crataegus in Monagri (Μονάγρι) village (450 m a.s.l., Limassol district, Cyprus) on July 7, 2000; ♂ - wine trap in Agios Silas (Άγιος Συλάς) environs (200 m a.s.l., Ypsonas, Limassol district, Cyprus) on July 4, 2001.Collected by Gabriel Georgiou
