Trichoferus fasciculatus senex, endemic subspecies to Macaronesia, was described as Trichoferus senex from Madeira by Thomas Vernon Wollaston in 1854 [✧].

Body length:9 - 14 mm
Life cycle:2 years
Adults in:July - August
Host plant:polyphagous in deciduous trees (Ficus, Ceratonia, Pistacia, Spathodea)
Distribution:an endemic subspecies to Macaronesia (Canary Islands and Madeira Archipelago)


The depicted beetles were reared from larva/pupa found in dead Ficus carica in Guia de Isora environs (1065 m a.s.l., Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain).
