Tithoes confinis, a species distributed in Africa and Arabian peninsula (Yemen, Saudi Arabia), has been decribed from Senegal as Acanthophorus confinis by Francis Louis Nompar de Laporte de Castelnau in 1840 [▽].
Body length: 36 - 101 mm Life cycle: several years Adults in: January - October Host plant: polyphagous in broadleaf trees Distribution: Egypt, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Africa
The depicted mounted beetles were collected by a local collector in Sirari village environs (Tarime district, Mara region, Tanzania) in October 2012. The living female beetles were photographed in: (SS) - Kruger National Park (Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces, South Africa) on January 1, 2016; (PK) - 5 km S of Tsumeb (1423 m a.s.l., Oshikoto region, Namibia) on March 27, 2014.Collected by our friends Stanislav Snäll and Pavel Kučera.
