Tetrops formosus formosus, a nominotypical subspecies distributed in SE Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, has been described from Issyk-Kul lake environs (Kyrgyzstan) as Tetrops formosa by Julius Ivanovitch Baeckmann in 1903 [✧]. Larvae of T. formosus develop in twigs of apple trees (Malus). Adults, active from April to July, can be found on the host tree [❖].
