Tetropium staudingeri, a Central-Asian montane Tetropium species known from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and NW China, has been described from
Kyrgyzstan/Kazakhstan by Maurice Pic in 1901 [❖]. Its larvae develop under the bark of recently died Schrenk spruces at altitudes of about 1800-2000 m.
Pupation in spring and early summer inside wood or under bark, the life-cycle depends on environmental conditions (1 - 2 years). Adults, crepuscular and nocturnal,
are active from June to August, with a peak in early July [❖].
