Stromatium longicorne, a representative of the Oriental entomofauna, has been described from Manila environs (Philippines) as
Arhopalus longicornis by Edward Newman in 1842 [✧]. S. longicorne larvae develop in a wood of a wide range of dead or dying broadleaf trees.
The species was introduced into Australia, Japan and USA, adult specimens emerging from wood furniture and other processed timber have recently been
intercepted in several European countries [❖]. The species was described also as Hesperophanes Abeillei from Algeria (?) by Maurice
Pic in 1891 [✩].
