Rutpela inermis, a sister species of a common European Rutpela maculata (Poda, 1761), is distributed in Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, and Turkmenistan. It has been described from Talysh Mountains (Azerbaijan) as Leptura inermis by Karl and Josef Daniel in 1898 [▽]. Larvae develop in decaying wood of deciduous trees, pupate in wood during spring. Adults, active from May to July, are diurnal and anthophilous (e.g. reported on blossoming hawthorn in Talysh Mts.) [❖].

The depicted females (typical and dark form) were collected in Rashī village environs (N36°50′18″ E49°39′47″; 900-960 m a.s.l., Rahmatabad and Blukat district, Rudbar county, Gilan province, Iran) on June 16, 2010 and June 9-11, 2014.
