Rhagium syriacum, the nominotypical subspecies occuring in Syria and Turkey, has been described from Syria as Rhagium mordax var. syriacum by Maurice Pic in 1892 [▽]. Its subspecies R. syriacum phrygium, an endemic to South Turkey, has been described from Taurus (Turkey) as Rhagium phrygium by Karl Daniel in 1906 [✧].
