Purpuricenus globulicollis, a rare and sporadic European xerophilic species, has been decribed from Digne environs (France) Pierre François M. A. Dejean in 1839 [▽]. P. globulicollis larvae develop in dying thin branches and twigs of deciduous trees (prefers Quercus, but also reported in Acer). Pupation occurs in wood in spring. Life-cycle lasts two years. Adults, active from May to July, can be found on host trees and can be attracted by wine/sweet traps.
