Pteromallosia albolineata, a striking species widespread in Armenia, Azerbaidjan, Iran and Turkey, has been described from Iran as Phytoecia albo-lineata by Clemens Hampe in 1852 [✧]. According to Martin Rejzek et al. in Turkey P. albolineata develops in Echinops sp. (Asteraceae) and sg. Cynarae (Asteraceae) [❖].
Body length: 15 - 21 mm Life cycle: 1 year Adults in: May - July Host plant: Echinops scovitzi, sg. Cynarae and other thistles Distribution: Armenia, Azerbaidjan, Iran and Turkey
The living beetle was photographed on its host plant in mountain meadows ca 4.5 km south of Kajaran (Քաջարան, Syunik prov., South Armenia).Collected by Michal Hoskovec
