Psilotarsus hirticollis hirticollis, a species occuring in South Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, has been described from Trans-Ili Alatau Mts. (Kazakhstan) by Victor Ivanovitsch Motschulsky in 1860 [▽]. Biology of P. hirticollis hirticollis is not well known, but larvae develop in the soil probably on the roots of desert herbs and shrubs (Taraxacum, Capparis, etc.) [★].

The all depicted mounted beetles were collected in Kazakhstan, the first male from the left in Abai village environs (Keles river valley, Shymkent region, Kazakhstan) on May 11, 2001 by Mikhail Danilevsky.
