Prionus corpulentus, an interesting representative of the Oriental entomofauna whose area of occurrence extends from India, Nepal and Pakistan to Afghanistan in the west, has been described from Murree environs (Punjab, Pakistan) by Henry Walter Bates in 1878 [❖].

Host plant:polyphagous in rotten wood of broadleaf trees
Distribution:Afghanistan [✧], Pakistan, India, Nepal


The depicted mounted male beetle was collected in Dao Khan village environs (2600 m a.s.l., Hattian Bala district, Azad Kashmir territory, Pakistan) on August 2-6, 2003.
