Pogonarthron semenovianum, a very rare and not often collected species known only from South Tajikistan and North Afghanistan, has been described from Buchara environs
(Tajikistan) as Prionus semenovianus by Nikolai N. Plavilstshikov in 1936 [❖]. The best known locality of the species are very dry hilly steppes
in around Kulob/Кӯлоб (900 - 1000 m a.s.l). The vast majority of known specimens were caught during deep, hot nights at the turn of July and August [✧].
