Pygoptosia speciosa, a striking species occuring in Iran, Liban, Syria and Turkey, has been described from Diyarbakır environs (East Turkey) as Phytoecia speciosa by Johann Frivaldszky in 1884 [✳]. From Turkey and Syria P. speciosa was reported to be associated with Klasea cerinthifolia (Asteraceae) and from Turkey with Klasea oligocephala (Asteraceae).
