Phytoecia (Musaria) kurdistana, a widely distributed SW-Asian species known from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, and Turkey, has been described from "Persisch-Kurdistan" (North-West Iran)
by Ludwig Ganglbauer in 1884 [▽]. So far, all specimens of P. kurdistana we found only on Eryngium sp. (Sea-holly; Apiaceae), which probably serves as a host plant of this remarkable species.

(N39°41′34″ E45°32′26″; 1320 m a.s.l., Vayots Dzor Province, SE Armenia) on June 12, 2012; (PJ) - 3 km E of Morvārīd (مرواريد) village environs
(N34°52′29″ E47°00′04″; 2250 m a.s.l., Central district of Kamyaran county, Kordestan province, Iran) on June 6, 2019.
The mounted male was collected in Shamshīr (شمشير) settlement environs (1770-2000 m a.s.l., Paveh county, Kermanshah province, Iran) on May 22, 2015.
