Phytoecia ganglbaueri, a species occuring in Near East (Iraq, Syrie, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, Cyprus, Turkey), has been described from Jerusalem environs as Coptosia Ganglbaueri by Maurice Pic in 1936 [▽]. Mikhail Danilevsky included this species in the newly established subgenus Paracoptosia in 2017 [❖]. According to Martin Rejzek et al. [✧] in Syria Phytoecia (Coptosia) ganglbaueri develops in Anchusa strigosa (Boraginaceae), Anchusa cf. barrelieri (Boraginaceae), and Echium glomeratum (Boraginaceae).
