Parmena mutilloides, a rare and unusually colored species of Parmena endemic to Turkey, was described from Beyşehir environs (Konya province) by Andrea Sabbadini and Carlo Pesarini in 1992 [✧].

Body length:6 - 8.5 mm
Life cycle:unknown, but probably 1 - 2 years
Adults in:adults hatch in June and as in other Parmena live for many months
Host plant:probably polyphagous species (reported fromEuphorbia spp. and Ficus carica)
Distribution:a species endemic Turkey (collected in Antalya, İzmir and Konya provinces)


The beetle in these pictures was reared from a larva found in dead roots of a Euphorbia sp. in Akseki environs (Akseki district, Antalya province, Turkey) in June 2005.
