Paramenesia theaphia, a species occuring in Kuril Islands (Russian Far East) and Japan, has been described from Sapporo evirons (Japan) as Paraglenea theaphia
by Henry Walter Bates in 1884 [▽]. Genus Paramenesia was estabilished by Stephen Breuning in 1952 [❖]. Larvae of P. theaphia in Kuril Islands develop in
weakened or dying shoots of castor aralia (Kalopanax septemlobus) located in the upper part of canopy. Adults, active from mid-July to September (peak in last ten days of July),
feed on green tissues of Kalopanax leaves [✧].
