Paragaurotes ussuriensis, a species occuring in Russian Far East, North-East China and Korea, has been described as Gaurotes? (Acmaeops) ussuriensis from Ussuri region by Constantin Blessig in 1873 [❖]. The P. ussuriensis larvae develop under the dead bark of various deciduous trees (prefers Juglans mandshurica, much less often develop in Ulmus, Acer, Quercus, Prunus, Eleutherococcus, Alnus). The larvae leave the host tree at the end of summer before the second overwintering and burrow in the soil, where they pupate in the pupal cell during the following spring (May). Adults, active from June to July, are diurnal and anthophilous [✧].
