Paraclytus reitteri has been described as Anaglyptus reitteri from "Caucasus" by Ludwig Ganglbauer in 1881 [▽].
The larval nutrition and female oviposition preferences of Paraclytus reitteri are very similar to those of Paraclytus raddei (Ganglbauer, 1881)
and larvae of both species are frequently collected together. Paraclytus reitteri, however, seems to prefere dead but very compact and moisture-poor wood of trunks and stumps of
Fagus orientalis (and very likely also other deciduous trees). The larval substrate always showed
a characteristic fungal infestation.

The mounted female (13.5 mm) beetle was collected close to road from Tegran to Chalus (314 m a.s.l., 20 km to Chalus, Māzandarān province, Iran) on May 27, 2015.
The depicted living specimen was captured in Rostamābād (رستم آباد) environs (1150 m a.s.l., Gilan province, North Iran) on May 25, 2018.
