Oberea taygetana, the most robust species of Amaurostoma subgenus known only from South Greece and recently also from Albania [❖], has been described from
Taygetos Mts. by Maurice Pic in 1901 [▽]. Like other species of the subgenus Amaurostoma, O. taygetana is ecologically attached to the spurges (mostly collected on
Euphorbia characias wulfenii) in which stalks its larvae develop.

in Socha (Σόχα) village environs (850 m a.s.l., Sparta municipality, Laconia regional unit, Peloponnese, Greece) on May 16, 2023.
