Neomarius gandolphii, an interesting and not often collected Magrhebian member of Oemini tribe known from Algeria and Morocco,
has been described from Algeria by Léon Fairmaire in 1872 [❖][✳]. N. gandolphii develop in sick, dying or freshly dead coniferous trees (Abies, Cedrus).
Larvae feed subcortically, in late summer penetrate the sapwood and create hook-shaped pupal cell in the wood [✧][✮]. Adults, active from March to June,
are crepuscular/nocturnal and can be attracted by light.
