Mallosia tristis, a rare species occuring in Azerbaijan and Iran, has been described from "Zuwand" (nowadays Yeni Zuvand, Azerbaijan) by Edmund Reitter in 1888 [▽]. Like most species of the genus, Mallosia tristis is ecologically associated with big Apiaceae plants close to Ferula and Prangos in the roots of which its larvae develop.

Body length:15 - 35 mm
Life cycle:1 year
Adults in:May - June
