Mallosia scovitzii

Mallosia scovitzii, together with the sister species M. mirabilis, were the first described taxa of in the following years estabilished genus Mallosia. M. scovitzii has been described as Saperda scovitzii by Franz Faldermann in 1837 [▽].

Distribution:Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey (Malatya, Erzurum, Van, Kars; ❖)


The depicted mounted beetles were collected in: ♂ Urtsadzor (Ուրցաձոր) village environs (1300-2045 m a.s.l., Mt. Kotutsar, Ararat province, Armenia) on June 6, 2013; dark ♂ Geghard (Գեղարդ) monastery environs (1700 m a.s.l., Goght, Ararat province, Armenia) on May 27, 2013; ♀ Saghmosavank (Սաղմոսավանքú) environs (1800-1900 m a.s.l., Ara leř Mt., Aragatsotn Province, Armenia) on May 25, 2013

The depicted living female was collected on the host plant (Prangos ferulacea) in Karakurt Bucağı village environs (1450 m a.s.l.; 21 km SE of Sarıkamış, Kars province, East Turkey) on June 9, 2011.
