Mallosia costata, a species occuring in Eastern Turkey and Iran, has been described from Kurdistan by Maurice Pic in 1898 [▽]. Like most species of the genus, Mallosia costata is ecologically associated with big Apiaceae plants close to Ferula and Prangos in the roots of which its larvae develop.

The depicted beetles were collected: standard ♂+♀ in Morvārīd (مرواريد) village environs (2100-2200 m a.s.l., Central district of Kamyaran county, Ostān-e Kordestān province, NW Iran) on May 25, 2017; melanic ♂+♀ in Līkbīn (لكبن) village environs (1630-2125 a.s.l., Lajan district, Piranshahr county, Āzarbāyjān-e Gharbī province, NW Iran) on June 1-2, 2017 and June 3, 2018, respectively.Collected by D.Navrátil and P.Jelínek
