Lobarthron balassogloi balassogloi, a nominotypical subspecies occuring in Eastern Uzbekistan, has been described from Uzbekistan as Prionus (Psilotarsus) Balassogloi by Alexander Ivanovitsch Jakovlev in 1885 [▽]. Larvae of Lobarthron balassogloi develop in the soil at a depth of 15-40 cm and feed on the roots of various shrubs. Larvae before pupation creates not only underground pupal cells, but also the vertical passages to the surface. The biology of this interesting beetle is described in detail in the work of Jiří Lorenc and Alain Drumont published in 2013 [✧].
