Leiopus nebulosus, a common highly variable European species, has been described from Gotland (Sweden) as Cerambyx nebulosus by Carl Linné in 1758 [▽]. Its endemic Caucaso-Anatolian subspecies L. nebulosus caucasicus, occuring in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Russia: Southern Federal district and Turkey, has been described as Liopus caucasicus from Tbilisi (Georgia) environs by Ludwig Ganglbauer in 1887 [✮]. It is currently considered a subspecies of L. nebulosus [❖]. Biology of L. nebulosus caucasicus is very similar to the nominotypical subspecies.

Body length:5 - 10 mm
Life cycle:1 - 2 years
Adults in:April - August
Host plant:polyphagous on deciduous trees (Carpinus, Quercus, Castanea, Fagus, Alnus, Prunus)
