Leiopus andreae, a rare endemic species to Cyprus, has been described from Troodos Mts. (Cyprus) by Gianfranco Sama in 1994 [✮]. The biology of this interesting beetle is very similar to its continental congener Leiopus (Leiopus) nebulosus nebulosus (Linnaeus, 1758).
Body length: 7 - 9 mm Life cycle: 1 - 2 years Adults in: May - June Host plant: walnut (Juglans regia) Distribution: an endemic species to Cyprus
The depicted beetles were reared from larva found in dead walnut (Juglans regia) branch in Arakapas (Αρακαπάς) village environs (Limassol district, Cyprus) in May 2023.Collected by Petr Jelínek
