Iberodorcadion (Baeticodorcadion) atlantis, an endemic montane species to Morocco (Middle Atlas), has been described from Tizi n'Lâafit (Middle Atlas) as Dorcadion atlantis by Louis Ernest Marie Bedel in 1921 [▽]. The morphology of adults and all developmental stages, together with the biology of this only African representative of Dorcadionini tribe were described in detail in his excellent work by Antonio Verdugo Paez in 2014 [❖]. I. atlantis inhabits high montane pastures (above 1 800 meters of altitude) and is ecologically conencted with various species of grasses (Poaceae).
Body length: 11 - 12.5 mm Life cycle: 1 year Adults in: February - June Host plant: roots and basal stem parts of Poaceae Distribution: an endemic montane species to Morocco (Middle Atlas)
The depicted beetles were collected in Lake Aguelmame Sidi Ali environs (2150 m a.s.l, Khénifra Province, Béni Mellal-Khénifra, Morocco) on MAy 2, 2015.Collected by Zdeněk Košťál
