Herophila tristis, a beautiful, striking and relatively widespread southern European species, has been described from Montpellier (France) environs as Cerambyx tristis by Carl Linné in 1767 [❖].

Distribution:	Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Corsica, Croatia, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Sardinia, Serbia, Sicily, Slovenia, Turkey

The depicted mounted beetle was collected on a stump of common walnut (Juglans regia) near Perivoli village (SW of Corfu Island, Greece) in June 1998. The living specimens were collected in Daras (Δάρας) village environs (Levidi municipal unit, Tripoli, Arcadia regional unit, Peloponnese, Greece) on May 26, 2021 and in Acrocorinth (Ακροκόρινθος) castle environs (Corinth, Corinthia regional unit, Peloponnese, Greece) on May 19, 2022.
