Eutetrapha chrysochloris chrysochloris, a species of deciduous forests of North-East Asian Pacific islands (Sakhalin, Kunashir, Japan), has been described from Japan as Glenea chrysochloris by Henry Walter Bates in 1879 [▽]. Development of larvae under the bark of weakened, dying, uprooted and felled deciduous trees, in both trunks and stronger branches. Larval galleries are deeply impressed on inner side of bark and slightly touch the sapwood. A pupal cells are situated at end of galleries. In the case of thick bark, the pupal cells are generally created in or under bark and impressed in the upper layer of wood. If the bark is thin, larvae create hook-shaped pupal cell in the wood. Larvae pupate during spring after the second overwintering and adults hatch in summer months (peak at the end of July and August) [❖].

Body length:12 - 18 mm
Life cycle:2 years
Adults in:June - September
Host plant:polyphagous in deciduous trees (e.g. Acer, Salix, Quercus, Sorbus, Alnus, Prunus, Phellodendron)
Distribution:Russian Far East (Sakhalin, Kuril Islands), Japan

Depicted female beetle (16 mm) was collected in the nameless creek valley 1 km S of abandoned settlement Zastava Dokuchayeva (Застава Докучаева) (N44°30′13″ E146°09′27″; 100 m a.s.l., Kurils Nature Reserve, Kunashir/Кунаши́р island, Kuril Islands, Yuzhno-Kurilsky district, Sakhalin region, Russia) on August 5, 2013.
