Acmaeops smaragdula, a species of coniferous forest zone of Northern Eurasia, is common in Siberia from Urals to Pacific Ocean coast. In Europe it is except Scandinavia and Russia very rare and local species, known only from Alps. Larvae develop under bark of dead coniferous trees (Picea, Pinus, Larix, Abies), before the second ovwervintering leave wood and create a pupal cell in the soil. Pupation during spring, complete life cycle 2 years. Adults, diurnal and anthophilous, are active from June to August [▽].
