Drymochares starcki, a species occuring in Gergia nad South regions of Russia, has been described from Sochi environs (Southern Russia) by Ludwig Ganglbauer in 1888 [▽].
D. starcki larvae develop in the decaying, strongly decomposed wood of various deciduous trees (Fagus, Quercus, Betula, Castanea, Corylus, Buxus, etc.),
often in the butt of the stumps. Pupation in wood in April-May, life cycle at least 2 years. Adults, active in June-August, are nocturnal and often fall into soil traps [✧].
