Dorysthenes (Baladeva) walkeri, an impressive representative of the Prionini tribe widespread in the Oriental region (China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam), was described as Baladeva walkeri from Myanmar by George Robert Waterhouse in 1840 [★]. D. walkeri was first reported in the area of our interest (Arasbaran environs, East Azerbaijan province of Iran) in 2005 [▽].
Body length: 28 - 79 mm Life cycle: at least 3 years Adults in: May - November Host plant: polyphagous in broadleaf trees Distribution: China, Iran, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam
The depicted mounted beetles were collected by a local collector in mountain rain forests in Mae Tha environs (Mae Tha district, Lamphun province, North Thailand) in October, 2009.
