Dorcadion tschitscherini, a striking Dorcadion species endemic to South-Eastern Kazakhstan, has been decribed from former Malovodnoye village environs (Almaty region, Kazakhstan) by Vasiliy Ewgrafowitsch Jakovlev in 1899 [✱]. Typical habitats of D. tschitscherini are steppe valleys at the foot of the mountains and river banks with sparse grass vegetation, up to a height of 1000 m a.s.l. in piedmont plain of the northern slope of the Trans-Ili Range between the valleys of the Kaskelen and Kurty rivers (South-Eastern Kazakhstan). Adults, active from early April to the first decade of May, feed on above-ground parts of the host grasses. In warm sunny weather, males are actively moving in search of virgin females. Females are less active and usually staying under plants [❖].
