Dorcadion sulcipenne is a Caucasian/Transcaucasian taxon described from Georgia by Heinrich Carl Küster in 1847 [✮]. D. sulcipenne goktshanum, an endemic subspecies known only from Lake Sevan environs in Armenia, has been originally described as Dorcadion goktshanum from "Lac Gokcha" environs (Gokcha was old Turkish name of Lake Sevan) in Erivan Governorate (Caucasus Viceroyalty of the Russian Empire) by Georgy Suvorov in 1915 [❖]. However, according to Mikhail L. Danilevsky et al. [✧], this taxon is not a separate species but a subspecies of Dorcadion (Cribridorcadion) sulcipenne Küster, 1847.
Body length: 11 - 15 mm Life cycle: 1 year Adults in: April - May Host plant: larvae feed on roots of various grass species (Poaceae) Distribution: an endemic species to Armenia (Lake Sevan environs)
The depicted beetles were collected by Denis G. Kasatkin on North-West coast of Sevan Lake (Gegharkunik province, Armenia) in May 2002.
