Dorcadion shirvanicum was described as Dorcadion mniszechi shirvanica on the base of a glabrous totally black female, appearing similar to D. mniszechi Kraatz, 1873, from Sumgait River valley in Eastern Azerbaijan by Alexei Vladimirovitch Bogatchev in 1934 [✧][▽]. Elevation to the valid separate species was done (in form of a short note) by M.L. Danilevsky and S.I. Khvylia in 1987 [▽]. This beautiful and rare Dorcadion is known from planes of East Azerbaijan. We know only one population near Perekeshkiul in Sumgait River Valley (ca 30 km W of Baku), but according the original description the taxon can be distributed also West of Shemakha [❖].
