Dorcadion ribbei, a species occuring in Kazakhstan and North-West China (Xinjiang), has been described from Tarbagatay Range (Kazakhstan) by Gustav Kraatz in 1878 [✯]. Typical habitats of D. ribbei ribbei are submontane clay and stony semi-deserts with sparse grass vegetation. Larvae develop on roots of various grass species (Poaceae). Adults feed on above-ground parts of the same plant species. In warm sunny weather, males are actively moving in search of virgin females. Females are less active and usually staying under plants [✧].
