Dorcadion (Cribridorcadion) equestre, one of the of the most ornate Cribridorcadion species (occuring in Russia, Ukraine and Georgia), has been described from Southern Russia as Cerambyx equestis by Erich Laxmann in 1770 [❖].

Host plant:roots of grasses (Poaceae)
Distribution:Russia (Central and Southern European Territory), Georgia, Ukraine


The depicted mounted beetles were collected in Khodosivka (Ходосівка) village environs (Kyiv Oblast, Ukraine) on May 7, 2010. The living beetles were photographed on the Don river bank 3 km N Kalach-on-the-Don (Кала́ч-на-Дону́) environs (Kalachyovsky District, Volgograd Oblast, Southern Federal District, Russia) on April 25, 2009.
