This beautiful and endemic Dorcadion taxon, described by Mikhail L. Danilevsky in 2004 [❖], is known only in one locality near the town Sarkand (Сарқан) in the foothills of the Dzungarian Alatau (Sarkand district, Almaty region, SE Kazakhstan). The beetles occur at altitudes of approx. 800–1300 m a.s.l., larvae feed on roots of various grass species (Poaceae) and adults feed on above-ground parts of the same plant species [✧].
Body length: ♂♂ 14.5 - 18.6 mm / ♀♀ 15 - 18.7 mm Life cycle: 1 year Adults in: last ten days of April - second half May Host plant: larvae feed on roots of various grass species Distribution: an endemic species to South-East Kazakhstan
