Deroplia troberti, a widely distributed West-Mediterranean species, has been described as Stenidea Troberti from Algeria by Étienne Mulsant in 1843 [❖]. D. troberti larvae develop in dying or freshly dead thin branches and twigs of various broodleaf trees and bushes, but its preferred host plant is Nerium oleander. In Morocco, it often attacks twigs of oleanders, which were heavily damaged or killed by
Derolus mauritanicus (Buquet, 1840). The larval galleries are essentially identical to those of the Cretan subspecies Deroplia troberti cruciata Sama, 1996. Life cycle one or two years. Adults, active from September to May (the maximal activity in January - February), are crepuscular or nocturnal and can be beaten form the host plants [✮].

The depicted beetles were reared from larvae feeding in thin terminal twigs of Nerium oleander collected in Morocco (Tizi-n-Test environs / Asni environs, High Atlas) and Italy (Monte Nieddu environs, Sarróch, Sardinia).Collected by Petr Kabátek, Jiří Krátký and David Navrátil
