Daramus major macrops, an interesting and rare Sahelo-Saharan taxon, has been originally described from Algeria as Tetropiopsis macrops by Paul de Peyerimhoff de Fontenelle in 1943 [✮]. Later it was described again under names Daramus mehennii Sama, 1994 and Daramus sahrawi Sama & Rapuzzi, 2008. Both taxa were synonymised by Adlbauer in 2012 [❖]. The correct position of genus Daramus in Cerambycidae family tree is stiil questionable (tribes Saphanini or Hesperophanini) and opinions differ author from author.

The depicted specimens were reared from larvae found in a dead wood of Vachellia tortilis collected: (PK) – in M'Ssici village environs (N31°14′35″ W04°42′30″; 830 m a.s.l., Tinghir province, Drâa-Tafilalet region, Morocco) on April 27–29, 2009; (JCR) – south of Wadi I-n-Haggaren in Messak Settafet (Fezzan, Libya) [✧].Collected by our friends Petr Kabátek and Jean-Claude Ringenbach
