Conizonia mounai, an endemic species to Morocco, has been described from Ifrane environs (1500 m a.s.l., Middle Atlas, Morocco) by Gianfranco Sama in 2005 [▽]. C. mounai is very similar to Conizonia allardi guyi Sama, 2005, but has more robust and longer body. Its distribution area is limited to a geographical triangle between Azrou, Imouzzer Kandar and El Hajeb, in the Moroccan central Middle Atlas. The larva develops in the roots of Carthamus pinnatus. Adults, active from the end of March to the end of April, are abundant in April uder basal leaves of the host where they mate [▽][★].
