Clytus ciliciensis, an interesting and endemic species to Turkey, has been described from Mersin province as Sphegesthes ciliciensis by Louis Alexandre Auguste Chevrolat in 1863 [▽]. At present virtually nothing is known about its biology.

The depicted beetle was collected on flowers in Avgadi environs (800-1100 m a.s.l., 35 km N of Erdemli, Mersin province, South Turkey) on June 16-20, 1996.
