Cleroclytus banghaasi, a Central-Asian taxon of interesting tribe Tillomorphini, has been described from "Kulab" (nowadays in Tajikistan) as Anaglyptus banghaasi by Edmund Reitter in 1895 [▽]. C. banghaasi was included by Maxim Lazarev in the subgenus Obiqueclitus established by him in 2014 [❖]. The species is broadly polyphagous and its larvae feed subcortically on recently dead twigs or branches of various decidouos trees and shrubs (e.g. Cerasus, Prunus, Malus, Pyrus, Rosa, Cotoneaster, Atraphaxis, and Exochorda). Larva overwinters and then it pupates in the wood in the following spring, sometimes the adults overwinters. The adults, active from April to July, are diurnal and anthophilous [✧].
